OSSAA Team Preview: Washington Warriors

The Washington Warriors are coming off a 2023 season that saw them win their second consecutive 3A State Championship.

OSSAA TEAM PREVIEW: WASHINGTON WARRIORS

The Warriors lost some significant players in the '23 class, including Camden Bates and Kane Springer, but they still appear to be one of the top teams in the 3A division. Washington has to be one of the favourites to win their third consecutive crown in the same way they have in recent years: with the bat. The Warriors have several high-level prospects, as well as some multi-sport skill, to add to that mix.

With a good average run differential of 7.54 runs per game in 2023, they've established themselves as one of the finest programmes in the state, regardless of class, and are the favourite in 3A moving into the 2024 season.

IMPACT PLAYERS: DAX MCCASKILL (2024), INF/OF, HOUSTON COMMIT.

2024 INF @MccaskillDax (Washington) continues to amaze, displaying enormous power potential with exit velocity of up to 102.8 mph with his powerful leverage.

Running a 6.68, he once again demonstrated his athleticism, making him a must-follow prospect.twitter.com/Ij1jtD61O1

Following a successful junior season, the versatile prospect committed to Houston in the fall. McCaskill has an amazing combination of power and speed, clocking a 102.8 exit velocity and a 6.63 sixty time. McCaskill is versatile and can play anywhere on the field, including both corner infield positions and the outfield.  His name has begun to gain traction among MLB scouts in recent weeks, and his bat production puts him on our list of probable Player of the Year candidates.

Moore has spent the majority of his high school career as an everyday second baseman behind one of the finest defenders in the state, but he hopes to go to SS for his senior season. The quick twitch athlete employs a smooth RH swing as a high-contact threat while also demonstrating power potential.

Moore is one of the greatest middle defenders in the class, and he will have the opportunity to play SS in his final high school season. Moore will also contribute on the mound for the Warriors, as he is a mid-80s strike thrower with a high level of misses.
