Trump, who hopes to return to the White House following his 2020 defeat, presented his vision for a potential second term, promising to "fix our borders" and "fix everything about our country." Donald Trump was elected president of the United States on Wednesday (November 6), making a stunning return four years after being thrown out of office and ushering in a new American leadership that will put democratic institutions at risk at home and in international affairs.
Trump declared victory in the 2024 US presidential election in the early hours of Wednesday, claiming a "unprecedented and powerful mandate" as he addressed supporters in Florida.
The Republican contender, flanked by family members and important aides, claimed victory in numerous crucial states and predicted a Senate majority for his party.
"America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate," Trump said the roaring throng, citing alleged victories in Montana, Nevada, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
"We have taken back control of the Senate," he said later.
The Republican stated that his administration will usher America into a "golden age".
