Barack Obama discusses his top 2023 books.

 “As I usually do during this time of year, I wanted to share my favourite books, movies, and music of 2023,” says Obama

Former US President Barack Obama carried on his habit of highlighting books, films, and music that captured his attention in 2023 by taking to X, previously Twitter, on Friday to offer his favourite literary selections of the year. 

Obama said, "As I usually do during this time of year, I wanted to share my favourite books, movies, and music of 2023," in his post, expressing his typical excitement for the occasion.


"The Covenant of Water" by Abraham Verghese, "The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory" by Tim Alberta, and "The Vaster Wilds" by Lauren Groff were a few of the noteworthy books Obama recommended reading. 

He went on to say, "If you're looking for a new book over the holidays, try one of them," urging his followers to check out these choices. Additionally, if you can, browse them in your neighbourhood library or buy them from an independent bookshop.

Obama has highlighted that the content on his annual lists is stuff he actually appreciates. He is well-known for his sincere interest in the suggested media. 

In an earlier interview, comedian Hasan Minhaj refuted rumours regarding his choice of music, saying, "Given my lists' amazing quality, people tend to assume that he was working with a 20-year-old intern to figure out this new song." No, dude, it's on my iPad at the moment.

Obama acknowledged getting music recommendations while staying true to himself, saying, "So usually, at the end of the year, folks will be like, 'Man, you need to listen to this.'" This is beneficial.
