Authorities reported Friday that Christian Oliver, his two young daughters, and the pilot of a tiny plane were killed after the jet fell into the Caribbean Sea.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said in a statement that Oliver, 51, was arrested with his daughters Madita and Christian Klesper. Annik, 10, and 12 were on board the little plane. Robert Sachs, a local homeowner and plane owner, was recognised as the pilot. According to the US State Department, Sachs is likewise an American.
Oliver's representatives confirmed his death, telling CBS News that their "thoughts and prayers are with him, his two daughters, and his family."
According to the police, the jet crashed into the sea about a mile off the shore of Petit Nevis shortly after midday. According to authorities, the plane was on its way to St. Lucia, about 65 miles away, when it "experienced difficulties and plummeted into the ocean."
According to officials, after the disaster, local fisherman and divers attended the scene. According to police, divers discovered the bodies and handed them over to personnel of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard who had arrived on the scene.
A medical practitioner confirmed that all four persons on the plane were dead, according to police. The causes of death will be determined by post-mortem exams.
According to the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, the plane crash is still being investigated. According to CBS News, the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority is "currently in the process of gathering information to assist in the investigation."
The State Department stated that it is giving "all appropriate consular assistance" to the victims' relatives.
On New Year's Day, Oliver, who was born in Germany and is most known for the 2008 film "Speed Racer," stated that he and his family were "somewhere in paradise."
Oliver will star in two forthcoming films, according to his IMDB website. One, "London Blue," is now in post-production but has no set release date. "Forever Hold Your Peace," the other film, is still under production. The film's director, Nick Lyon, announced the completion of filming in an Instagram post.
"We talked about producing a film together for years and finally did it," Lyon wrote, noting that this was their fifth collaboration. "Thank you for being a great colleague, actor and friend."
