Steve Kerr sarcastically reveals why he went with Steph Curry against the Suns

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns on Saturday (February 10). Steph Curry made headlines by hitting the game-winner in the final seconds of the game. Of course, Warriors fans were already familiar with this. Steph has enjoyed those moments for the duration of his career; they are part of what he gives to the team.

Steve Kerr was questioned why he turned to Curry in that moment during a post-game press conference. As a result, he joked that he's a genius for having the foresight to hand the ball to one of the greatest shooters in NBA history on the final possession.

“I’m a really smart guy, you know?” Kerr said. “No one else thought of it, so I went into the huddle and I said maybe we should throw the ball to Steph. And everyone else was like ‘oh yeah, that’s a really good idea.” Jordan, Duncan, Steph, just get the ball to those guys and you’re going to win a lot.”

The tongue-in-cheek moment was funny. Everyone expected Curry to get the ball in the clutch. In most cases, he is expected to deliver. However, those expectations empower teams to prepare for when Curry has the ball in the waning seconds of a game. The pressure is constantly at its greatest.

Nonetheless, Curry keeps finding a way. He has struck several game-winning shots this season and is sure to hit more before the title is crowned later this year.

Kerr's upbeat demeanour is a good indication. It's likely that he's comfortable with the team's direction, which can only be a good thing. The Warriors are now 6-1 over their previous seven games. There's a lot for supporters to get excited about.
