Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 remakes have been confirmed for release in 2024

Today, PlayStation released a sizzle reel film featuring all of the previously announced games that users may expect in 2024. While the release dates for many of them were already known — some, like The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, will be out in just a few weeks – two games were confirmed in this video. Konami's remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2 are at issue.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, so it makes sense for Konami to commemorate the occasion with a remake. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was first unveiled at a PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, and we first saw in-engine video at an Xbox Partner Preview in October of same year. It appears to be a straightforward recreation of Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, although Konami has remained relatively silent about this game. As such, it's encouraging to hear that it will be released this year.

That's not the only remake Konami has in the works. It is collaborating with Bloober Team, the developer of games such as The Medium and Layers of Fear, to reinvent the PlayStation classic Silent Hill 2 in the style of Capcom's Resident Evil remakes. Bloober Team has apologised for Konami's refusal to share much about this game since its announcement in October 2022. As a result, Konami's willingness to confirm the game's release year is noteworthy.

Konami should publish updates on each of these games, as well as more exact release dates or timeframes, soon
