Packers vs. 49ers prediction, odds, line, and spread: Expert's 2024 NFL playoff choices on 66-27 roll

The San Francisco 49ers are ready to begin their quest for the Super Bowl, but the red-hot Green Bay Packers will be the first challenge in Saturday's NFL Divisional Round game. The 49ers (12-5) should be rested following a week off after clinching the NFC's top seed. They were also allowed to rest the most of their players in a meaningless 21-20 loss to the Rams in Week 18. The Packers (10-8) advanced to the NFL Divisional Round with a surprising 48-32 win in Dallas on Sunday. The clubs have met nine times in the postseason, the most common playoff game since the merger, with the 49ers going 5-4 and winning four straight.

The game will start at 8:15 p.m. ET on Saturday in Santa Clara, California. The current Packers vs. 49ers odds see San Francisco as a 10-point favourite, with a total points scored over/under of 50.5. Before selecting any 49ers vs. Packers choices, consider what SportsLine NFL analyst R.J. White has to say, given his expertise with Packers picks.

White, a CBS Sports fantasy and gambling editor, consistently crushes against-the-spread choices, going 535-450-30 from 2017 to 2022, returning more than $3,500 to $100 investors. He also finished the 2022 NFL season with an unbelievable 107-80-6 record on his final 193 against-the-spread and total NFL picks, delivering more than $1,800 for $100 gamblers.

Furthermore, White has an unbelievable 66-27-2 in his last 95 picks involving the Packers, with a payoff of $3,457 for $100 bettors. Anyone who has followed him has done extremely well.

White has already set his sights on the Packers vs. Niners matchup and has already made his NFL predictions. You can check out his picks right now on SportsLine. Here are some NFL odds and betting lines for the Niners vs. Packers:

  • Packers vs. 49ers spread: San Francisco -10

Why the Niners can cover:

San Francisco is 12-6 against the spread as a home favourite over the last two seasons and has demonstrated during the season that it is one of the league's most well-rounded teams. The 49ers average 28.9 points per game and give up 17.5, ranking third in the NFL. They also have a plus-10 turnover differential, while the Packers are even. With two MVP possibilities in the backfield and a slew of superb ball catchers, the San Francisco offence is a nightmare for defences.

Christian McCaffrey, the NFL running champion (1,459 yards), will face a Packers defence that allows 128 rushing yards per game (28th in the NFL). If Green Bay sells out to stop McCaffrey, quarterback Brock Purdy (4,281 yards, 31 touchdowns) can make them pay. Purdy has two 1,000-yard receivers: Brandon Aiyuk (1,342) and tight end George Kittle (1,020). Deebo Samuel (1,117 total yards) is difficult to stop, as is McCaffrey (562 receiving yards). Why The Packers Can Cover:

Green Bay is a youthful squad with no fear, as evidenced by the Packers becoming the first club to defeat the Cowboys at home this season. They're 7-4 against the spread as underdogs, with the last four wins coming outright. Last Sunday, quarterback Jordan Love threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Aaron Jones rushed for 118 and three scores. Over the last nine games, Love has 21 passing touchdowns and one interception, while Jones has four straight games with 100 or more rushing yards.

The 49ers are stacked, but they may exhibit rust after taking a bye on Wild Card Weekend and sitting most of their starters in Week 18. They are vulnerable to the pass, ranking 14th in the NFL, but Green Bay boasts promising young receivers. Romeo Doubs, a second-year pro, had 151 receiving yards last week, while rookie tight end Luke Musgrave had 52 yards and a touchdown on only three grabs. The defence recorded four sacks and two takeaways against the Cowboys. See which team to choose here.
